iPhone 14 or 14 Pro: These are the differences
If you want the latest of the latest and don’t want to compromise on performance, the top model 14 Pro is for you. Along with the larger 14 Pro Max, it is the only iPhone currently sold by Apple that has a telephoto camera in addition to the normal camera and the ultra-wide-angle camera.

One of the main features of the Pro is the elimination of the previous notch. In its place is a new feature called “Dynamic Island”. This is a pill-shaped section around the front camera that enlarges or displays information depending on the application. For example, if you connect your AirPods to your iPhone, it will show the battery level. If you’re listening to music, you can control the music with a tap. It’s a mixture of notification and widget.
iPhone 14 Pro Max or iPhone 14 Plus: The big iPhones in comparison
The entry-level iPhones 14 are in some ways pandemic victims. For the first time equipped – and as predicted in our Smartphone Trends 2022 article – with an older processor, the iPhone 14 Plus is one of the weakest new iPhones. On the other hand, for the first time since the iPhone 6s, there is a Plus model with a large display. Since it is unfortunately priced close to the smaller Pro model, it doesn’t really seem attractive. But one should not fool oneself: The iPhone 14 models with the older A15 Bionic chip still clearly beat the competition in terms of performance. Moreover, the 14 models are likely to be supported longer than the previous year’s models.

As we wrote in our iPhone 13-vs-14 article, upgrading to the current entry-level iPhones is only worthwhile if you own an iPhone Xs from 2018 or older. However, even then we do not recommend an upgrade.
iPhone 13 and 13 mini: Suitable for those who don’t need the latest iPhone
The price-performance ratio of the iPhone 14 is also diminished by the fact that Apple is still selling last year’s model. It has the same notch, the same camera system and, except for Accident Detection and Action Mode, the same features. The iPhone 13 mini is also the last iPhone for small hands. Because it did not sell well, Apple did not give the 14th generation a small smartphone.

So, those who absolutely still want a small iPhone should be quick and grab the handy iPhone 13 mini (or SE). It is unclear whether there will be a similarly small iPhone in the near future.
iPhone 12 and iPhone SE: For children, teenagers or as a second phone
The iPhone 12 is still being sold by Apple. The 2020 smartphone has been completely redesigned and now, unlike the previous year’s models, comes with square edges again. This case design was last seen on the iPhone 5s! Unfortunately, the stainless steel edge is very susceptible to fingerprints, although this is hardly noticeable in daily use.
After the discontinuation of the mini, the iPhone SE is now the only smartphone for small hands. However, this does not mean that the small iPhone is weak in the chest. The SE of the current 3rd generation is equipped with a powerful A15 Bionic chip, the same chip that is also used in the iPhone 13s and the entry-level 14s.
