Do you want to cancel your UPC contract or change your UPC subscription? Over time, it may make sense to cancel your tariff in order to access a better offer. In the following, you will find out what you should consider when canceling your contract.
This is what you must bear in mind when terminating your contract with UPC
Before you cancel your UPC subscription, you should take a close look at your contract. Among other things, the contract specifies the cancellation period and minimum contract term. The notice period describes the period between the submitted notice and the termination of the contract with the provider.
The minimum contract term, on the other hand, is the period during which the contract is effective and legally binding. The contractual relationship cannot be terminated prematurely within this period. If you wish to withdraw from the contract before the expiry of the agreed notice period, you will pay the outstanding installments up to the minimum contract period. UPC's cell phone subscriptions have a minimum contract period of 12 or 24 months. They can be terminated at the end of the term by phone or via live chat, subject to the two-month notice period.
This is what you should do when you change your subscription
If you want to keep the phone number, you should register it with the new provider in good time. You will receive the form for transferring the number from the new provider. Also, make sure that you cancel your UPC subscription only when you switch to a new subscription. If the subscription is cancelled first and the change is made later, your phone number will be lost and cannot be reactivated. The easiest way is to order a new subscription. The new provider will then take care of the cancellation and the transfer of the mobile number.
Alternative: Pause UPC subscription
Are you planning a longer stay abroad? Alternatively, you can pause your mobile subscription for a while online via My UPC. You can take such a subscription break for 2 to 5 months per year. Inform UPC at the earliest 60 days and at the latest 1 day before the desired start of the break. To do this, you can simply specify in your My UPC account which subscriptions you want to pause and for how long. You will then receive a confirmation by e-mail and do not need to do anything else. The pause starts and ends automatically. Important: The pause also extends the minimum contract period. This means that a 3-month break also postpones the end of the contract by 3 months. There is a fee of CHF 10.- for the pause.
